HORNETS KO’D BY COUGARS FROM NCAA TOURNAMENT

Stanford, Calif, – The Sacramento State Hornets 2017 season came to end Friday afternoon with a 6-1 defeat to the BYU Cougars champions of the West Coast Conference in the elimination game at the Stanford Regional at Sunken Diamond. Hornets starter freshman Parker Brahms pitched well in 5.0 innings of work in his first ever NCAA Regional appearance giving up three runs    on three hits with four strikeouts.   For the WCC Champion BYU Cougars starter Hayden Brahms pitched 6 1/3 innings one run on three hits with a career high eight strikeouts.

With the win Cougars of BYU improves their record to (38-20) overall while the Hornets of Sacramento State champions of the WAC finishes their 2017 campaign with (32-29).

 

The BYU Cougars will play the loser of the nationally 8th seeded Stanford Cardinal vs Cal State Fuellerton in the loser’s bracket on Saturday at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond first pitch at 1:00 pm pst.
